Aspen Words

Aspen Words, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025, will welcome more than 40 nationally recognized, regional and local authors to downtown Aspen, CO for engaging conversations, book signings and other literary activities. Open to the public, September 26-28, 2025, the festival, presented in partnership with Book of the Month, will include an onsite bookstore, art activations, food trucks, parties and other public programming for adults and families alike.

Aspen Summer Words is the Rocky Mountain gateway to the literary world. Recognized as one of the country’s pre-eminent literary conferences, Summer Words welcomes visitors and locals alike to celebrate writing and writers in Aspen for a week each June. The exceptional faculty and awe-inspiring mountain scenery combine to make this a writing retreat like no other.

Winter Words is a chance to meet your favorite author or discover your next beloved book at five evening events held throughout the ski season.

Aspen Words is partnering with publishing industry experts to provide writers with individual and customized editorial services. Whether you are an emerging or seasoned writer, you will be matched with an editor suited to your needs and focused on making your work exceptional. Our editors will accept a multitude of writing formats including short stories, articles, essays, and book-length manuscripts.

AWN is geared towards advanced writers seeking to take the next step in their writing and/or to further their professional careers. It also provides a networking group for encouragement, support, camaraderie, and inspiration.

We believe engaged youth vitalize our literary community by offering fresh perspectives and taking bold risks. When a student finds her voice, it is good for all of us. We create dynamic educational programming that gives young people opportunities to share their unique ideas through the power of written and spoken words.
