The Aspen Challenge, launched by The Aspen Institute and the Bezos Family Foundation, provides a platform and inspiration for young people to design solutions to some of the most critical and complicated problems we face. We partnered with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to launch the program in 2013 and are partnering with Denver Public Schools in 2014, in which 20 high schools across Denver will each have a team participate in the program.

To kick off the program, we will host a two-day forum January 10-11, 2014. We will engage some of the greatest leaders and thinkers who work in a variety of disciplines. Our goal is to embrace issues that students in Denver face and connect them with global topics.

This two-day event is just the beginning. The students will have seven weeks to collaborate and design solutions to the challenges they choose. We will reconvene March 1, and teams will bring their innovative solutions to the stage in a presentation to a panel of judges. Three teams will be selected to present at the Aspen Institute’s 10th annual Aspen Ideas Festival.
