The Aspen Institute Central Europe, in partnership with the Aspen Institute network of International Partners, hosted the NextGen Network in Prague in January 2019, the third workshop in the network supported by Microsoft.
Participants emphasized that there should be a focus on mapping where exactly AI can support existing professions, create new ones, but most importantly streamline the education system towards current trends and lifelong learning. It is essential to speed up the adoption of AI in Europe, as well as connect it with major challenges in society, such as tackling climate change or innovating healthcare, where, for example, AI can be explained by its promoters as a way of delivering better services rather than merely introducing a new technology.
The NextGen workshop gathered generation thinkers and leaders, researchers, experts, entrepreneurs and state administration representatives to discuss the underlying values and principles that need to be respected in order to deliver ethical AI in society and how can we leverage AI to address societal challenges.
The sessions were led by Aleksandra Przegalińska, Kozminiski University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Alžběta Krausová, Czech Academy of Sciences. The workshop was opened by Pavel Kysilka, 6D Academy, who accompanied the group throughout the workshop in a role of a mentor and commentator.
