The fourth Aspen Forum on Children and Families on April 11-12, 2023 will convene courageous leaders — policymakers, philanthropists, practitioners, parents, researchers, direct service providers, and advocates — who are taking action to advance solutions for whole families at the community, state, and Federal levels. These two-generation (2Gen) approaches are deepening and growing, with nearly 500 Network Partners; 120 Fellows; and more than 100 Parent Advisors coming together for movement building since Ascend’s launch in 2010.
Since 2017, Ascend at the Aspen Institute has hosted this national convening to share and showcase policy innovations, best practices, and bold solutions to build intergenerational opportunity across the country. 2023 represents a new chapter for many Americans – emerging from a pandemic ready to embrace seismic shifts in how we live, learn, and work in ways that heal and nourish our families and communities.
This powerful, two-day convening will examine what it takes to move the needle for families with low incomes, building on learnings from the landmark Ascend report State of the Field: Two-Generation Approaches to Family Well-Being. What are 2Gen approaches accomplishing for children and the adults in their lives? Why and how are these approaches accelerating so quickly? What can different sectors do to further whole-family well-being at a time when we are witnessing new and unprecedented energy and enthusiasm for powerful change?
Together, we will forge a pragmatic path forward for all children and families to fulfill their potential.
